Work:
Neon Japanese Alleyway
A short effects animation in a Neon Japanese Alleyway made using Cinema 4D and composited in After Effects.
I started off by downloading 3 different 3d scan scenes from Sketchfab. Then I split them apart to create a composition that I deemed fit my concept.
I then added light poles to signify it being a street, also downloaded from Sketchfab. I then created cables hanging from one side to another using spline dynamics. To animate them swinging I added a turbulence force.
After creating the formula on plane, I duplicated it throughout the scene using cloner and random effector. I then used a time effector to offset one of the cloners to make it more random.

Progression (C4D)
Here I showcase how I built up the scene and create the animations in Cinema 4D, using effects such as voronoi fracture and spline dynamics.

Progression (AE)
Here I showcase how I composited the scene in After Effects, adding the lightning strike as well as rain in the scene.
After rendering it out, I separated certain elements out, and composited it. I then used the depth pass to create a depth of field effect. Here I also added more glow to the lights present in the scene.
As this was supposed to look like someone filmed it with a camera, I added rain streaks and droplets as an overlay to showcase the lens being wet in the rain.
Last but not least, I added the lightning strike effect using advanced lightning, glow and blur on the contact point to make it more realistic and blended together with the scene.

Styleframes
Here are some stills captured from the final video, to showcase some details and no motion blur.
